Twelve (12) people were killed and 390 others were injured in 333 traffic accidents, recorded during the past week in urban areas, said Thursday, a report of the National Security services.

Compared to the statistics of the penultimate week, the balance sheet of traffic accidents from June 29 to July 5, shows a decrease in the number of accidents (-23) and injuries (-37), against an increase in the number of deaths (+3), said the same source.

The same data indicate that the human factor is the main cause in more than 96% of these accidents induced in particular, « by the non-respect of the Highway Code, the non-respect of the safety distance, the excess of speed , fatigue, lack of vigilance at the wheel and other factors related to vehicle maintenance, « the statement said.
