Less than 48 hours after the terrible accidents of Constantine and Bordj Badji, which claimed 27 victims, another road accident occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday in the M’zab valley, killing 9 people and 32 injured, according to a provisional assessment of rescuers.

The circumstances of this appalling road tragedy, which once again mourns Algerian families, are not yet known, an investigation by the competent security services has been opened.

According to the civil protection services which dispatched its rescue teams to the site, the incident occurred during the night from Saturday to Sunday about fifty km from the city of Ghardaia, and, more precisely on the section of the bypassing the M’Zab valley, on the national road N.1. There again, the accident occurred between a passenger transport bus, making the link El Menea and Algiers, and a heavy vehicle, a watermelon transport truck.

Friday evening, we recall, a tragic traffic accident which took place at a place called Oued Ouarzeg, in the commune of Beni H’midene on the RN 27 connecting the wilayas of Constantine and Jijel, left 18 dead ( 11 women, 6 children and a man) and 11 wounded, according to a report by the National Gendarmerie.

On the same day in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, a collision between a 4×4 vehicle and a truck left 9 dead and several injured. These road accidents are notably reminiscent of that of December 31, 2020 when 21 people died in a terrible road accident in Tamanrasset.

The increase in the number of claims involving large tonnage vehicles has become worrying, according to insurance experts.

And, as if the lessons have not been learned, another tragedy, that of this Saturday morning in the urban crown of Ghardaïa, in the M’zab valley, still comes to mourn Algerian families during this holiday period.

The increase in the number of road accidents over the past twenty-four hours across the country is also worrying and calls more than ever on the danger of this phenomenon, which has taken on dramatic proportions for both society and society. for the national economy.

The average annual cost of claims weighs on public finances to the tune of more than one billion euros annually. As for the highest authorities of the country, they have shown that they remain attached to the preservation of the lives of Algerians, to the comfort of bereaved families, and to putting an end to the phenomenon of road accidents, if not to find draconian solutions. .

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune had offered his sincere condolences on Saturday to the families of the victims of the two road accidents that occurred on Friday in Constantine and Bordj Badji Mokhtar, leaving 27 dead and several injured.

« I learned with deep sorrow the terrible news of the two road accidents which occurred in Constantine and Bordj Badji Mokhtar », tweeted President Tebboune.

« In this painful circumstance, I offer my sincere condolences to the families of the victims. To God we belong and to Him we return », wrote the President of the Republic.

According to the road safety commission, 3,275 people died and 30,000 others were injured in road accidents in 2019. The human factor, according to the same source, is responsible for 96% of these claims.
